Designmuseum Danmark

Designmuseum Danmark is Denmarks largest museum for Danish and international design and a central exhibition forum for industrial design and applied arts in Scandinavia.

Utopia and reality
Designmuseum Danmark has a special obligation to give knowledge about Danish design. The permanent exhibition “Utopia and Reality – Applied Arts and Design of the 20th Century” provides insight into Danish design history’s most significant periods and can be seen in the light of the development within contemporary aesthetic discussions and the social, technical and economic conditions.

Design then and now
The museum offers a unique opportunity to step back in the history of style across national borders. The historical collections of European and Asian art and decorative art includes major works in Chinese ceramics, 1700s French and German porcelain as well as English and French furniture. Here you can immerse in the narrative setups or just let yourself be impressed by the beautiful details in craftsmanship.

Poul Henningesen, Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen
A visit to Designmuseum Danmark provides the opportunity to explore the works of three major masters of design and architecture; Poul Henningesen, Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen. All three are main figures in Danish design. They inspired their contemporaries and set their footprint on the future of not only Danish design, but design all over the world.
