The Botanical Garden also houses the largest collection of preserved plants in the herbarium. Associated with the garden are also an alcohol collection, a utility collection, a wood collection, and a seed collection.

Palm House
Giant bamboo, palms, beautiful flowers, and carnivorous plants are just some of the exotic species you can find in the iconic Palm House from 1874, which contains five greenhouses with different climatic zones.

Step into the warm and humid surroundings where tropical and subtropical plants flourish, including the Botanical Garden’s iconic ‘corpse flower’, Amorphophallus Titanum, whose massive bloom has impressed both the public and the gardeners every other year since 2012. Like many of the other plants you can see in the Palm House, the Amorphophallus Titanum is rare in the wild and grows only in the rainforests of Sumatra.

Also, visit the succulent and cactus house with plants of all shapes and sizes.

Get up close with butterflies from April to October

Butterflies are wonderful creatures, and their lifecycle has fascinated artists, writers, and scientists since ancient times. The Botanical Garden’s Butterfly House is part of the Palm House, and here you can witness the life and transformation of butterflies up close during the summer months.

Enjoy a cup of coffee in the garden and take a memento home from the shop

Outside the Palm House, you will find a small outdoor café with tables and chairs set up. Here, you can settle down with a refreshment or buy a coffee and enjoy it on one of the garden’s many benches or cosy green lawns. From the Palm House terrace, you get a fantastic view of the garden and a glimpse of Copenhagen’s spires and towers. In the Botanical Garden shop, you will find a carefully selected range of plants, posters, and decorations in the spirit of the garden.
